The School of Humanities of Changzhou Institute of Technology(CIT)is composed of three major departments: Department of Chinese, Department of Secretary and Departmentof Media. It offers three majors: Chinese Language and Literature, Secretarial Science,Radio and Television Editing and Directing, with more than 700 full-time undergraduates. And two other departments (Department of Humanities and General Education and Department of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) are respectively responsible for humanities general education and international Chinese language educationin CIT. There is a laboratory, an applied professional skills training platform and a digital platform for Research on HumanismIntegration and Innovation, with more than 800 sets of equipment and a total fixed assets reaching 11 million yuan. There areAdministrative Office and Student Affairs Office. Putonghua Test Stationof CIT is attached to the school.
The school has a well-structured faculty and administrative team, with 56 full-time teaching and administrative staff members, among whom 53.19% are professors and associate professors, 57.44% are holders of doctoral degrees.Three of them are hired as master tutors, and four of themare successfully selected into the 333 High-level Talents Training Project in Jiangsu Province.
The school adheres to the concept of “ Based on Changzhou, Based on Cultural Communicationand Committedto Professional Academic Building”. Chinese Language and Literature is a key discipline of CIT. Chinese Language and Literature and Radio and Television Editing and Directing have been selected as first-class disciplines in Jiangsu Province. The teaching teamof Classical Literaturewins an advanced innovation teaching team of CIT and the teaching teamof Chinese Modern and Contemporary Literatureis an advanced teaching teamof Ideological and Political courses of CIT. Chinese Modern and Contemporary has been approved as a first-class undergraduate course by the Ministry of Education. The school has established disciplineresearch platforms such as Jiangsu Contemporary Literature Research Base, Changzhou Social Science Popularization Demonstration Base, and Jiangnan Institute of Literature, History and Cultural Communication. Other scientific research institutionsinclude Qu Qiubai Research Center(which has become the popular practice base of Marxism in Jiangsu Province), Gao Xiaosheng Research Center, Genealogy of Qing Dynasty Research Center, Cultural and Creative Industry Research Center, New Media Research Centerand so on.
In recent years, the teachers have undertaken 4 projects of the National Social Science Fund and Later Funded Projects (2 key project), 11 humanities and social science research projects of the Ministry of Education, and 11 social science research fund projects of Jiangsu Province, winning one second prize and five third prizes for outstanding achievements in philosophy and social science in Jiangsu Province.
